viscous & tingle

From 2018-2021, Silver Hawthorne and Lucky Charming were the production company Viscous & Tingle, named for a drink invented at one of our parties. Our shows were held at the Oberon, the second stage of the American Repertory Theatre in Harvard Square. Oberon was designed to be a “theatre in the club”, where things are happening all around you; Viscous & Tingle were knows not just for our nerdiness and high production values, but for our creative use of the space. Our shows were mostly burlesque, but with a large helping of variety: drag, acrobatics, various circus skills, live music, poetry, ritual, and even a Drag Queen Story Hour.

Our shows:

  • Exit, Pursued Bare: all things Shakespeare.
  • Mount Olympus: Greek mythology; our plan was to do other mythology shows in the future.
  • The Library Is Open: all about books and libraries.
  • Catharsis: our final, midpandemic show was loosely themed, about which more later.

Lucky Charming died on April 4, 2023. We had plans for more shows – Olympus and Shakespeare sequels, an SNL show, a space show, and so much more. We were also planning to go a bit further in the future – our shows were basically theatre, so Viscous & Tingle would have branched out into being a theatre company, putting on Shakespeare shows to start.

At some point, I hope to produce and host again. What I produce and host will not be Viscous & Tingle; Viscous & Tingle was the magic between the two of us.

I’ll be writing descriptions and posting pictures of our shows; watch this space.
